So my first spec miata race was this past Sunday at Buttonwillow Raceway. I’m happy to say that I finished the race without any major incidents! Started 15th, I think I finished 13th. Not bad since my main goals were to 1. not crash, 2. finish the race, and 3. not finish last! I think the best lap time I could manage was a 2:11, which was about 4 seconds off the leaders pace. Looking forward to the next race and picking up my lap times a bit.

Here are the first couple laps:

  1. That looks fun. We were down in Hershey recently and saw the SCCA running time laps. It was quite an interesting mix of cars. The miata looks awesome. I’m jealous!

  2. It was a ton of fun! I am officially addicted. The miata is a great car… handles great, simple, and reliable (for a race car).

Cool vid to watch, my fingers and thumbs kept twitching tho–wanted to hit the gas and brakes at different times using the PS3 controller I usually have in my hands. 😉

Good lines on the track, not a whole hell of a lot of room for passing. Guess its all about the qualifying times?

Really makes me want to take my truck out and give it a shot.

    kz out
